"Sew Loved, Sew Quilted" Upcycled Workshop: 3hrs (3 classes)

Are you holding on to clothes that are sentimental like baby clothes, a loved’s ones dress shirts/t-shirts, or scraps of fabrics? Instead of having it tuck in the closet, why not turn it into a quilted blanket to use or pass down.

What you will make/learn:

  • 1 quilt blanket or quilted hug (you have the option to make them into squares or triangles design)

  • How to quilt with batting (cotton) -included

  • Learn how to clean the raw edges with bias tape

Size Options:

  • Crib Quilt (baby size (could be a little smaller): 36" × 52"

  • Throw Quilt: 50" × 65"

  • Quilted hug (see picture)

Supplies:

Bring your own clothing to turn into quilt, best to use cotton fabrics or same fabrication to give it a uniform look.

We will supply the cotton batting, backing fabric (you can also provide your own), and bias tape (included in price), we will have scraps of fabrics that you are welcome to use in your quilt.

No sewing experience required! However this is not a sewing machine basics class, we will teach you how to use a sewing machine but no threading.

All genders welcome!

This is 3 classes each 3 hours each (if you cannot attend all the workshops), you might have to do some homework.

Location: The Sewing Clubhouse: 44-02 23rd Street Suite 210 (LIC/Queens)

Class Format:

  • Hands-on practice with step-by-step guidance

  • Small class sizes to ensure personalized attention (cap at 6 students)

  • Friendly and supportive atmosphere for all skill levels
