Meet your teacher!
Serena (they/them) splits time between teaching art history and designing patterns as ozuko (a tribute name to their yarn inspectors, Ozu (cat) and Kopiko (also cat)). Serena has been knitting since the age of 10, debuting with misshapen scarves for their stuffed bears; they've now been teaching for over a decade. Their knit practice invests in sustainable and traceable fibers, heritage materials, diasporic knowledge, and queer playfulness. They believe knitting can be a very forgiving and generous way of making, and hopes to convey that through their patterns and their teaching.
