


Ages 8-12: Afterschool Fall Classes (Wednesdays: 3:15-5:30pm)
What Kids Will Learn
How to safely use a needle, thread, and scissors (develop their motor skills), Introduction to sewing machines (beginner-friendly, guided use), Basic stitches and seam finishes, How to follow simple patterns, Creating fun projects such as bags, accessories, clothes, jewelry-making, can be adjusted to all sewing levels, will leave with something they feel good from making it!
Class Details
Ages: 8-12 (2nd-6th grade), everyone is welcome!
Schedule: Starting Sept 17th. Afterschool: 3:15pm-5:30pm
Holidays will be observed and classes will not be in session during that time.
Sept 17th–Dec 17th (no class 9/24) 13 classes
Class Size: Small groups (10 kids max, each gets their own machine) —2 instructors
Location: LIC ART CENTER 44-02 23rd Street Suite 210, Queens 11101 (known for other businesses to host other kids’ activities), if 3 or more are from same school (can do free pick-up for the following schools)
FREE PICK-UP ONLY AT: P.S./I.S. 78Q (PS 78) and P.S. 384 – Hunters Point Elementary
-will get them at dismissal time (2:30pm P.S. 384 and then 2:45pm at PS 78) and walk to the sewing clubhouse, they can snack/play games/read before project begins
All supplies will be provided, except snack and a water bottle, which they can fill up!
Parents must fill out form completely upon booking
Environmental Friendly
The Sewing Clubhouse prides itself creating, using, and managing textiles and garments in ways that reduce environmental impact, conserve resources, and promote ethical practices throughout the process. All fabrics are sourced sustainably meaning either through donations/second-hand as most supplies being used are as well.
-Led by Van: a former high school sewing teacher and fashion industry professional with over a decade of experience teaching kids & adults and Bachelor’s degree in Apparel Design with a knack of up-cycling things
Cancellation Policy:
-Can request prior to classes beginning, no refunds on missed classes, make-up classes are offered on weekend or join another weekday class

Does my child need sewing experience?
Not at all! Classes are beginner-friendly and start with the basics.
Is it safe for kids to use sewing machines?
Yes! Machines are introduced slowly with close supervision. We also provide age-appropriate projects and safety rules.
Can parents stay during class?
No, drop-off only or early pick-up (please let us know if more than 10 minutes)
What will my child bring home?
Each class focuses on finishing a fun project they’ll be excited to show off and use at home.
